Winter tyres are constructed using a special rubber compound which is optimised for temperatures below 7 degrees centigrade. The special tread design also allows the tyre to cut through snow with precision, grip and control. Audi’s winter wheels and tyres are available right across the range, and start from £550 for just tyres and £792 for tyres and wheels.
The Audi winter tyres improve grip on snow covered and icy roads by up o 60%, the tyres help decrease braking distance by 20% – the equivalent of two car lengths. Audi also supply heavy duty bags to protect summer wheels and tyres during storage. For Audi owners with a lack space, Audi offers storage lf tyres and wheels for an additional cost.
Winter tyres come with additional grooves ‘sipes’ located within the tread blocks interlock with the surface to maximise traction. The tread pattern in winter tyres also help clear the water and slush found on icy roads.
